Living the Mission: Cuffee Community Center

On Wednesday afternoons, the Cuffee Community Center in Chesapeake buzzes with activity. Children participate in art, music/dance, or recreation led by Chesapeake Fellowship volunteers. Afterward, teens attend a small group where they discuss practical applications of the Bible to everyday life. Children see Bible stories come to life through an interactive large group experience, which includes drama and singing songs containing biblical truths. This is followed by a time of grade-level small groups where children learn Bible verses, participate in activities to reinforce their learning and help them apply the Bible to their life, and pray. Teens then serve dinner to the younger children, who eat in their small groups, and then eat together.

Through this outreach, we have had the opportunity to build relationships with the children and their extended family members who attend with them. Over 100 people attended this year’s Christmas celebration and 12 families/44 children were blessed at Christmas with gifts from families who adopted them. A pair of brothers attends Chesapeake Fellowship regularly thanks to a church member who picks them up for church each week. Another family has also begun worshiping with us. God is at work at Cuffee! Please join us in prayer. Contact the Local Missions office [466.5181] to learn more.
