Free Panera Bread to a Good Cause

***Below is an e-mail we received from the Coronado School Ministry. Please contact Carolyn Vanderwarker if you know of any organizations who might benefit from this ministry or if you are able to assist. Thank you!

On behalf of the Coronado Ministry, Brad & I pick up Panera bread at Town Center for the Coronado students each Thursday evening & deliver it to the school the following morning. We are in need of someone to pick up the bread and deliver it to ANOTHER ministry when the school is closed for holidays or breaks. We have the upcoming holidays and the girls will be out of school again. Our Thursday evening slot falls on Christmas Eve & New Year’s Eve, and the managers at Panera Bread tell me they will be opened. Is there a ministry at church who could take this over on Christmas Eve & New Year’s Eve? I realize the holidays are a challenging timeframe to find someone to do such a task. We are out of town for both holidays, and I know there are people in need out there who could use the bread.

Looking ahead we also have the on-going need for a ministry to take it over during Spring Break & Summer vacation. Last summer, I brought the bread to the Union Mission downtown, but they had plenty of food. After several attempts I was unable to find anyone in the church to take it over last summer, so I was able to get another church to take our slot temporarily. I am hoping to keep it in FBCN and would like to invite your thoughts of how this need can be met within our own ministries.

***Please note that the task requires heavy lifting and a spacious vehicle: We average 6-7 large trash bags of bread + 3 boxes of pastries per week. The bread is very heavy!

Thank you so much for any input you can offer.

Carolyn
